If fear exists nowhere except inside the mind, Michael Shumway nimbly directs his aesthetic tendrils into that mental cavity and darkly fills it.
Directing is a major departure from Shumway's previous work in film score composition--work that has served him well. While viewing The Edison Effect, I detected cross-over skills and intuitive mise-en-scene; it's hard to ignore those cool camera angles!
Shumway's feature-length debut, Alienate, the story about a man trying to get home amid paranormal chaos, was shot on location between Denver and Salt Lake City. In production since 2011, the thriller is finally primed for theatrical release!
